First Day

Well today was a good day. First Ann, Matilda, and I went to Halsingborg which is only about an 1/2 and hour away and is about the size of Salt Lake City. It was AWSOME!!! The buildings were amazing and the streets were super super skinny. There were shops everywhere. Clothing shops, shoe shops, candy shops, cafe's, etc. We looked in a few shops but not many. Matilda got some shoes. It has been raining all day. After Halsingborg we headed to the stables where Matildas horses are kept. Man, Wyoming horses are so different from Swedish horses in the way they are handled. Wyoming horses graze in a pasture while these horses sit in a stall all day long. I'd rather be a Wyoming horse. Swedish horses are pampered.
After taking care if the horses Ann and I went shopping for food. Holy Cow! Shopping here is sooooo different from Lander. First to get your cart you either put in money or you have a little key thing that you put into the cart that unhooks it from a chain that is on all the others. After you have your cart you walk into the store and you swipe your card that shows your a member. The machine will give you a number and you find the little scanner thing that has that number. As you go shopping around you scan the items you want to buy. Its kind of like a Safeway do it yourself scan except that you do it as you go throughout the store. It was super super cool. The milk is in cartons and so his the yogurt. Most of the other things are pretty much the same except that bread is made a little different. When you get milk you don't get Whole milk, or 1% or 2% you can get light milk, middle milk, or fat milk. haha. It was kind of funny. They also have rows and rows of bins of candy and you just get a bag and pick out which candies you want and put them in the bag. In the end you weigh it and the machine gives you a little sticker that has the barcode that you scan. When your done shopping you just go to a machine and drop off your scanner and then you go to another machine and you pay because the little scanner thing already told that machine what you bought. It was really nifty.
Another thing that I noticed is that the Swedish people  are VERY law abiding people, which is very good. They always go the speed limit no matter what and they always wear their seatbelts and they always scan every item that they want to purchase at the store. It's pretty nice knowing that the majority of the Swedish people abide by the law. And you very very very rarely see a cop around. It's pretty awsome.
Hope everything is well in Lander, Wyoming.
Love,
Micah
